Rehabilitation

Unfortunately, injuries are part of every athletic activity. Injury is the damage that happens in the body tissue from direct or indirect violence. Injuries divide in open and closed, depending the exposure of tissue on environment. Depending the duration of application and intensity of the violence, they are called overuse injury and traumatic injury. Usually we observe injuries like tendinitis, tennis elbow, chondromalacia, osteochondrosis, sprains, muscle and ligament ruptures.

Injuries could be prevented if individuals consider the importance of general and specific warm up before training, the correct technique of each exercise, stretching, medical exams, nutrition, training intensity and others.

Factors causing injuries

Factors that have been observed that cause injuries are many. The most important are the unsuitable training area, overreach, old injury, movement with no coordination, incorrect performance of technique, deficient nutrition intake, overuse and absence of interest and attention generally.

Basic factor that determines the rehabilitation process after injury, is total absence time from exercise. Depending the kind and gravity of injury, individual might stay in bed and after that, receive a treatment of special physical exercises.

Basic means of physiotherapy is cryotherapy, thermotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, massage and bandage.

Research that investigated the effects of immobility under various forms, observed a significant reduction of muscle mass and increased catabolism of muscle proteins.
Therefore, exercise is essential to restore the range of motion of the joints, to strengthen muscle groups that have been weakened.
